Hub introduced at Tulalip event
Gathering delegates heard about the climate change Hub created by leaders of Naut’sa mawt Tribal Council.
“There are a lot of people interested in working with the Coast Salish nations,” Christine Callihoo said, mentioning federal and municipal governments. “We’re trying to bring those altogether through the Hub.
She added that the Hub is “a leadership initiative, to get out into the Coast Salish nations as well as beyond.”
The Hub initiative will investigate ways of reducing the vulnerability of nations to the negative consequences of climate change and will explore ways communities might benefit from adaptation and mitigation.
“Resilient and adaptive communities have the ability to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions,” Callihoo said.
